National curricula

National curricula so called Framework Educational Programmes) define the general obligatory framework for creating school curricula (School Educational Programmes) for all fields of study in preschool, basic education, art, language and secondary education. Framework Educational Programmes were incorporated into the education system of the Czech Republic by law No. 561/2004 Coll. on Preschool, Basic, Secondary, Tertiary Professional and Other Education (the School Act). This law has been amended in 2015 by the Decree No. 82/2015.

STRUCTURE OF THE ORGANISATION

NÚV is divided into following organisational entities: 


The National Youth Information Centre (NICM)

NICM is a department of the National Institute for Education, Education Counselling Centre and Centre for Continuing Education of Teachers and is an organization directly controlled by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

NÚV Consultation Centre

All questions concerning the educational process or particular questions about the school life are answered by the employees of the NÚV Consultation Centre.


Pedagogical-Psychological Counselling Centre

The National Institute for Education is at the same time a pedagogical-psychological centre and is as such registered in the Register of Schools and Educational Facilities of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. 


EUROPASS

The National Europass Centrum informs about Europass documents that help individuals to document work or study experience abroad or in the Czech Republic, as well as releases and publishes such documents. 


Counselling servicies


Primary prevention

In the area of primary prevention, the activities of NÚV focus on the cooperation, coordination and organisation of regularly held meetings of methodists of prevention, who work in pedagogic-psychological counselling centres and regional school prevention coordinators, further on the research activities in the area of school prevention and educational activities within the continuing education of pedagogical staff. Further area of activities is represented by working groups focusing on specific issues and by the certification of primary prevention programmes.

Standards for quality childcare

The main purpose of these quality standards is to set and maintain a comparable level of a quality childcare provided in particular facilities all across the Czech Republic and to enhance the quality of the childcare provided in those facilities.  


Institutional care and preventive educational care


School and education counselling services

NÚV focuses mainly on pedagogical-psychological counselling, diagnostic and interventional instruments and is also involved in the development of conceptual and analytical studies.  


Children with special educational needs

The term special education is to be perceived as education of children, pupils and students with special educational needs – e.g.  education of children with chronic health condition (with mental retardation, physical disability, visual and/or hearing impairment, speech impediments, autism, simultaneous multiple disabilities, behavioural  developmental disorders) physical handicaps or social disadvantage.


Talents and talented pupils

The talented pupils require specific educational approaches, their planning and implementation is difficult and go beyond the regular duties and activities carried out daily by every teacher.      


Inclusive education

Inclusion of children, pupils and students into the mainstream education is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
